Cleaning and organizing the kitchen and water closet went buy relatively quickly.  I’m not sure if it was because I spent longer blocks of time here with less distractions or if it’s because the space is only half the size of the store.  Either way it’s done and over with and I’m ready to move upstairs. This whole clean up thing is really starting to get old.

Before tackling this area, I went head and removed all doors by tapping the pins out from the hinges.  They’re all in beautiful condition and also take up a lot of space and block light.  They’re now resting safely in the store.  When this place gets rebuilt, I might have more doors than I need.

There’s one last room that haunts me.  The last 1/3 of the first floor is what seems to be an addition on the back of the building.  From the first exterior walk around video, you can see the  foundation isn’t like the rest of the building and the footprint doesn’t match up against the house either. I kinda get that sinking feeling in my gut when staring down into pile, knowing that soon enough I’ll be in the trenches.  I guess it’s probably what other people feel when they see the whole building.  I know I have to be stronger than that and just get the job done…

Here’s the progress and a couple finds 🙂

All-in-all, not a bad couple days work. I did keep track of plastic, paper, and trash amounts too.  There was a lot of metal stuff lying around and I’ll get to weighing that soon enough.

Plastic: 17.8 lbs.
Paper: 35.4 lbs.
Trash: 39 lbs.
