Second floor 50% clean, let there be light

The saturday before Father’s Day, I spent the entire time to clean the second floor bedrooms and just listened to Podcasts.  There wasn’t a whole lot of unique finds.  Mostly the material is made up of clothes and old toys from the 80’s & 90’s.  Aparently all the really old stuff ended up in the store.  It’s almost like reverse packing.  The easiest access point filled up first and as time went on and the place got more filled, the owners had to go farther and farther back.  I will bet the newest stuff is in the room I’m currently cleaning, the far back of the second floor…

For all references, here’s a pano looking back.  The bedroom on the left, next to the stairwell will now be referred to as Bedroom 1, the other to the right will be Bedroom 2.

Here’s some before and after shots to see how things have gone:

Here’s the first bedroom adjacent to the stairwell. It’s more like a hallways leading to the next bedroom, but back in the day it’s all they needed. The window is boarded up from the outside.

The pile of junk and a nice old chest on a cool vintage bed. Dump the mattress, save the frame.

All the doors from the second floor have had the pins pulled from the hinges and stacked in a corner. Making more room to move around the place.

Checking out the fastest room to be cleaned so far. The extra light from pushing out the plywood off the window really helps.

Now let’s track back to Bedroom 2:

A nice close up view into the original master bedroom. There’s an old cardboard closet directly in front of the doorway.
One stepped inside, I can see the awesome matching antique bed and dresser set. From my completely uneducated an amateurish guess, I would say they date back to the 1920's

Sorry there’s no after shots of this room.  I was saving it for Lisa from Five & Diamond vintage clothing, you should follow her on Instagram @fiveanddiamondhudson

Lastly, there’s Bedroom 3, it’s on the south western most part of the building.  Directly above the first floor’s scariest room, this bedroom has about a three inch drop on the floor due to a poor foundation on the addition. Strange enough, the door jambs and moldings are straight as an arrow.  It’s all clean now, I just need to grab some pics to show it off.

This is after an hour of cleaning already. I really need to be more conscious of my efforts for the before and after. Oh well, there's always the video...

If you look real close, you can see a huge bird’s nest above the window on the left.  I think all of my commotion the days prior had sent them packing.  No more chirpy chirps.

This was the week after Father's Day, when I was able to come here for an hour a so a couple times after working at the studio.

That’s all folks!
